You need to assess any substance hazardous to health that your work creates or uses, including dusts and fumes you make yourself, such as silica or wood dust. Products with a similar hazard and use can often share one assessment.

Review it whenever something changes, such as a new product, process or safety data sheet, after an incident or health surveillance finding, and at regular intervals. Many businesses review yearly.
